Here is why you are going to love this role
As the U.S. team lead for In-Space Manufacturing (ISM), you will drive the next frontier of space manufacturing design and production techniques. From concept ideation to hands-on prototyping, ground testing, and in-orbit demonstration, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of space structures and hardware.
This role collaborates closely with Dcubed’s Munich-based ISM teams while focusing on expanding ISM products for the U.S. market. If you’re passionate about building breakthrough technologies and leading cutting-edge projects from design to spaceflight, this is your chance to make an impact.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the development of US-based in-space manufacturing (ISM) technologies
- Provide team leadership to a multidisciplinary technical team to design, build, test and fly ISM products and printer technologies
- Utilize your experience in structures and mechanisms, mechatronics composites, and/or polymer extrusion to directly develop new designs as both an individual contributor and technical manager
- Support solar array, antenna, and mission development teams by collaborating on interface and performance requirements and their subsequent verification
- Manage interfaces between subsystems
- Maintain technical budgets for the system
- Prepare technical documentation and participate in stakeholders' meetings
Here is what you bring to the table
- BS / MS / PhD degree in Engineering (aerospace, mechanical, mechatronics, materials or a related subject)
- 8+ years of experience leading design and development of advanced structures and mechanisms, advanced manufacturing technologies, or related topics
- Enthusiasm in being hands-on with rapid prototyping and flight hardware builds
- Experience with spaceflight hardware and environments - you’ve designed and/or built hardware that’s been to space
- Comfortable with performing back-of-the-napkin calculations and analyses to validate design concepts
- CAD is your second language
Nice to Have Requirements:
- Experience with structural analysis and test
- Direct experience in design for additive manufacturing with an emphasis on extruded polymers and/or reinforced fibers
- Test fixture design experience
Eligibility Requirements:
- Onsite/Hybrid Required: This position is based at our Berthoud, Colorado facility
- Due to federal regulations under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Export Administration Regulations (EAR), applicants must be U.S. persons.
