Senior Mechanical Engineer (m/f/d)

Your Mission

At RobCo GmbH, we are redefining what’s possible in industrial automation. Our modular, high-performance industrial robotics solutions are transforming how manufacturers of all sizes deploy, scale, and adapt automation. This is not just engineering - it’s shaping the next generation of robotics technology. We have raised more than $50 million from some of the world’s top venture capital firms, including Sequoia Capital and Lightspeed, as well as from the founders of UiPath, Helsing, Pitch, and other companies to pursue our mission.
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer with proven expertise in both mechanical design and testing of precision systems. In this role, you will take full ownership of mechanical development for our modular industrial robots - from concept design through to validation - ensuring every product meets the highest standards of performance, reliability, and manufacturability. You’ll be at the forefront of developing robotics solutions that set new benchmarks for flexibility and scalability in automation.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the mechanical design and development of modular robotic components and assemblies from initial concept through production readiness.
  • Create robust designs that balance functionality, manufacturability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Drive prototyping, assembly, and integration of mechanical systems.
  • Plan and conduct mechanical testing and validation to verify performance, durability, and safety.
  • Analyze test results, identify root causes of issues, and drive design improvements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Electrical, Software, Production) to ensure seamless system integration.
  • Prepare high-quality technical documentation for designs, specifications, and test reports.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to best practices in mechanical engineering.

Your Profile

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in mechanical engineering, with hands-on expertise in both mechanical design and testing - ideally within robotics, automation, or precision engineering.
  • Strong proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks preferred; Inventor, CATIA, or equivalent acceptable).
  • Proven track record in designing, building, and validating complex mechanical assemblies.
  • Solid understanding of mechanical principles, materials science, tolerance analysis, and manufacturing processes.
  • Hands-on prototyping and assembly skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex engineering challenges.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical documentation and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Fluent English; German proficiency is a plus.

Why us?

  • Work with us at the forefront of software-defined modular robotics.
  • Diverse, responsible, and autonomous work in a dynamic startup.
  • Flat hierarchies with an open and direct feedback culture, including a 360° development feedback aiming for holistic professional development.
  • Train in over 7,200 partner studios for only €30 per month with your subsidized Wellpass membership.
  • Flexible working hours, modern office, and the option for home office.
  • Regular team events (game nights, ski trips, and much more) - Teamwork makes the dream work!

Do you share our passion for our disruptive robot technology and want to be a part of our dynamic growth journey? You will get to own projects, implement innovative solutions, and be recognized for your successes!
