As part of
Siemens Operations Software (OPS-SW), the Technology, Data Fabric & Agentic
AI organization provides the technology foundation that enables the next
generation of industrial software. Its portfolio includes AI Production &
Engineering Systems, Data Fabric, Agentic AI frameworks, connectivity
platforms, semantic data models, cloud-native architectures, and industrial AI
services that power autonomous, scalable, and intelligent operations across the
OPS-SW portfolio.
As Director
of Research & Development - Connectivity, you will take technological
leadership of our newly established Connectivity organization within DI SW
Operations Software (OpsSW). You will be responsible for a globally distributed
R&D organization across multiple locations and time zones. At the heart of
your work stands the Information Connector - Digital Industries' consolidated
connectivity product and the technical foundation for the Operational Data
Fabric and the Agentic AI layer of OpsSW. You will further shape the consistent
adoption of modern AI tools across the entire software engineering process and
establish AI as an integral element of your team's engineering culture.
Your Area of Impact
- Technical and disciplinaryleadership of the global R&D organization of the Connectivity unitacross multiple locations and time zones, and steering of externaldevelopment partners
- Ownership of the consolidationof existing connectivity products into the Information Connector andreliable delivery of the product roadmap
- Responsibility for thecross-platform architecture (Industrial Edge, Kubernetes) and for broadsupport of industrial devices and protocols
- Ensure maintenance of legacyconnectivity products and support sunset paths
- Support customer engagement andsteer customer critical issues
- Establishment and scaling of AIusage across the full software engineering lifecycle (e.g., AI-assistedcode generation, test automation, code reviews, architecture anddocumentation support) including selection, rollout, and governance of thecorresponding tools
- Fostering an engineeringculture in which AI-assisted ways of working are the standard and arecontinuously evolved - with a clear focus on productivity, quality, andtime-to-market
- Establishment of unifiedengineering practices, architecture governance, and quality processesacross previously separate teams
- Close collaboration with theData Fabric and Agentic AI teams as well as with the OpsSW Business Linesto ensure flawless integration of the Information Connector both as astandalone product and as an embedded component
- Ensuring cybersecurity,regulatory compliance (incl. CRA), modern license management,and product certifications
- Building a unified,capability-oriented engineering culture without product or origin-basedsilos
- Ownership of the R&D budgetof the Connectivity unit and optimization of investment allocation acrosssites and capability areas
Your Success is Based on
- Several years of experienceleading sizeable software R&D organizations, ideally in the fields ofindustrial software, IIoT, edge computing, or industrial connectivity
- Proven experience leadingglobally distributed development teams, including strong cross-culturalleadership skills
- Deep technical understanding ofedge platforms and industrial protocols, as well as of data and semanticmodeling
- Validated experienceintroducing and scaling AI-assisted engineering practices and evaluatingmodern AI coding and engineering tools
- Experience consolidating andmigrating complex product landscapes
- Familiarity with Agile / SAFeat Scale, modern DevOps practices, and product-oriented engineeringorganization
- Strong ability to navigate thetension between new product development, installed-base care, and legacysunset
- Affinity for AI-driven productevolution and for the role of connectivity as an enabler for autonomousmanufacturing
- Excellent communication,facilitation, and presentation skills, as well as experience in directinteraction at senior management level
- Strong ability to developconstructive solutions even in sensitive discussions while maintainingfocus on win-win situations
- FluentEnglish skills, German advantageous
