As a Defense Consultant (m/w/d), you will serve as the bridge between users, technology, research, and product development. You will help drive innovation projects, engage with customers and partners, and ensure that valuable market and user insights are translated into future product capabilities.

This role combines technical expertise, customer engagement, research activities, and strategic thinking in a highly dynamic environment.

Defense Consultant (m/f/d)

Your Responsibilities

• Contribute to Research & Technology (R&T) projects, studies, demonstrators, and consortium initiatives.
• Develop and validate innovative concepts and technologies for defense and mission-critical applications.
• Plan and conduct workshops, demonstrations, technical briefings, conference presentations, and customer education sessions.
• Build and maintain trusted relationships with military users, procurement stakeholders, OEMs, research institutions, and industry partners.
• Analyze user needs, operational challenges, emerging technologies, and market trends.
• Capture and document customer insights, operational requirements, and product-relevant learnings.
• Utilize open-source technologies and AI-powered tools for rapid prototyping and technology validation.
• Provide subject-matter expertise to Product Management and Engineering regarding customer needs, technology trends, differentiation opportunities, and roadmap decisions.
• Support Business Development, Account Executives, and Technical Sales teams with technical expertise during customer engagements and opportunity qualification.
• Represent HAT.tec at conferences, exhibitions, industry events, and expert forums.
• Ensure project activities align with technical maturity, confidentiality requirements, consortium obligations, and intellectual property boundaries.

Your Profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Defense Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience in the defense, security, aerospace, or high-tech industry.
• Strong interest in military operations, mission systems, defense innovation, and emerging technologies.
• Experience working on research projects, demonstrators, innovation programs, or technology development initiatives is highly desirable.
• Solid understanding of modern technologies such as:Artificial Intelligence (AI)
• Cloud Infrastructure
• Edge Computing
• IoT Architectures
• Mission Software Systems

• Experience with rapid prototyping, software development, open-source technologies, or technology experimentation.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to communicate complex technical topics to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Excellent stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
• Self-driven, structured, and results-oriented working style.
• Fluent English communication skills, both written and spoken. German language skills are considered a plus.
