ILF is seeking to hire a Consultant with a focus on consulting and advisory services for our office in Austria (with offices in Vienna, Graz or Innsbruck).

About the role
Coming from the engineering discipline, we are continuing our building up of the Management Consulting team with offices in Vienna, Graz, Innsbruck, Munich, Abu Dhabi and Dubai, focusing on consulting and advisory in infrastructure, incl. Water, Transport and Energy sectors and are looking for a dynamic and experienced Consultant (CON3) to be part of our interdisciplinary team.
The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated individual with an understanding of and interest in the energy field with a business acumen. The candidate should be eager to play a crucial role in advising clients both independently and as part of ILF’s interdisciplinary service mix, which includes Management Consulting, Project Management, and Engineering, alongside specialized services. Your responsibilities
- Support the acquisition and execution of consulting mandates by conducting research, data collection, and analysis, ensuring high-quality project delivery.
- Perform detailed quantitative and qualitative analyses, including energy market assessments, financial modeling, and regulatory research, providing essential insights for project teams.
- Assist in managing and coordinating projects in the energy domain, working on energy market analysis, energy mix optimization (generation, transmission, distribution, storage), and energy transition strategies. Work in project screening (business case), market studies, pre-feasibility / feasibility studies, due diligence and transaction advisor, lender’s advisory, asset management and optimization projects.
- Prepare reports, presentations, and client deliverables, translating complex data into structured insights for internal and external stakeholders; provide the decision making basis for internal and external mandates.
- Support business development activities by analyzing market trends, identifying new opportunities, and contributing to proposal preparation.
- Work closely with interdisciplinary teams, collaborating with consultants, engineers, and subject-matter experts to deliver holistic solutions.
- Ensure smooth project execution by handling multiple workstreams, demonstrating flexibility and resilience in a dynamic consulting environment (“no 9 to 5”)
- Engage with clients and internal stakeholders, supporting meetings, workshops, and discussions with well-structured insights and analysis.
- Contribute to the development of service offerings, tools, toolbox and methodologies, helping improve operational efficiency and consulting excellence.
- Actively participate in knowledge build-up, knowledge-sharing and team collaboration, ensuring a continuous learning environment and contributing to the effectiveness of the team.
Qualifikation
- Educational Background: MSc or equivalent degree in engineering, economics/finance, or a related field. Ideally you have a mixed degree and understand both worlds. Additional qualifications, such as an MBA or PhD of renown institutions are advantageous.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in engineering, energy consulting, investment advisory, or management consulting with a focus on energy sector.
- Project Leadership: first experience with consulting mandates, and interest in building up experience to leading complex projects and guiding teams in an advisory role.
- Business Acumen: Understanding of market dynamics, regulatory frameworks, and investment strategies in the energy sector, with a keen interest to elaborate strategies and the way forward (solution oriented).
- Network & Relationships: Own professional network in the energy sector, with the capability to leverage relationships for business growth.
- Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical abilities with a solution-oriented mindset. Advanced skill set with data analytics and AI are a must.
- Communication & Collaboration: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in German and English. Additional language skills are advantageous, e.g. Russian, French, Spanish.
- Flexibility & Mobility: Willingness to travel internationally as required by consulting mandates; short to medium trips foreseen. Internal rotations possible
